The medicinal properties of mulethi is mainly because of the presence of powerful phytochemicals namely Flavonoids, Chalcones, Saponins and Xenoestrogens.
The Isoflavene Glabrene & the Isoflavane Glabridin, found in the roots of liquorice are Phytoestrogens.
